For this year’s holiday campaign, “Unforgettable,” we wanted to capture the spirit of celebration that comes from intimate gatherings, with joyous images, plenty of smiles and, of course, fabulous outfits.
What better way to capture this sense of community than with some of our favorite women and their real-life families (and furry friends)?
As you might expect, when families get together, there are bound to be shenanigans along the way. Read on to learn more about An, Thais and Daniella, their time on set, and how their husbands and daughters felt about sharing the limelight with them.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH YOUR FAMILY?
It was amazing to be able to shoot with my daughter, for several reasons. It was nice that somebody from my family got to see what I actually do all day, so it was a great opportunity to share that experience with Layla. It was fun combining work and home life. I feel so proud of her, for being able to just seamlessly blend into my work world and do such a great job. She was able to have fun but still be professional at age 12!
I was so excited to have been photographed with my hubby! It really brought out the best in me and made the holiday book so much more authentic. My husband said that he loved seeing me in my element—and was proud to see me at work.
It was super fun! We were so relaxed that it didn’t feel like a job.
WHICH OUTFIT WAS YOUR FAVORITE?
My favorite outfits from the shoot were the gold pants, the black sparkly short dress and the red plaid shirt. I felt very glamorous, festive and “cool” in all three. And Layla liked the velour pajamas because she said they were super comfy!
I really loved the studded black dressy cardigan and black pant. To me, it embodies the sophisticated side of Chico’s. It’s the perfect outfit to host an elegant party or go out on the town. But I also loved the seafoam Zenergy outfit, which is perfect for lounging during the holidays!
I’m all about effortless. So when I wore the all-white outfit, I was sold. I love the comfortable and well-dressed look. And I also loved the gorgeous cape I wore, because we all need one to raise the bar!
WERE THERE ANY “BLOOPER” MOMENTS ON SET?
Yes! The moment An and I were shooting a double, and the dog wanted to reach for the treat… the big dog looked like was going to bite our hands off. You should have seen our faces! We both lost it in laughter. We had a lot of fun the entire day.
THE THEME OF OUR HOLIDAY IS “UNFORGETTABLE.” WHAT IS YOUR MOST UNFORGETTABLE HOLIDAY MEMORY?
The most unforgettable holiday memories are really the simplest ones for me. When the kids were little, and they would come down in their Christmas pajamas with sleepy but excited faces. The best was the moment when they would see that Santa left a pile of presents for them! Without fail, that would erase my tiredness—from having done all that work for weeks—in an instant! We celebrate Hanukkah as well, so there was a lot of present wrapping for me when the kids were young.
Christmas of 2018! After serving in public life for close to a decade, Ashton, Aiden and I headed to Belgium for a fairytale Christmas with my mom and grandma. Just being in my hometown to unwind and relax, and being surrounded by family and great foods, was truly unforgettable.
Whenever we go back for holidays, we try to get all the family together: my father’s eight brothers and sisters, plus kids and their kids, and my mom’s side of the family—even grandmother, who is 94 years old and still enjoying life. All of us together were dancing like there’s no worry in the world. It’s the best memory I have ever had! Family is fun, and we love dancing and the energy that generates. It’s beautiful.
WHAT WILL YOUR HOLIDAY LOOK LIKE THIS YEAR?
This year for the holidays, we’re hoping to travel to see my mom in Holland. It will be her 80th birthday on New Year’s Eve, so we have to celebrate big!
My wish for this Christmas is for all my family to be together in one room. It’s been a very challenging year for so many, and just having all our loved ones gather would be very special. Our son turns 18 in December, so that will definitely be the beginning of the festivities.
Definitely warmer. This year, we would love to go the beach so we can have great outdoor family time with the kids.
WHAT FIVE SONGS WOULD MAKE YOUR PERFECT HOLIDAY PLAYLIST?
I love holiday songs! I tend to like the sappy ones: “The First Noel,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” both by Josh Groban. I like “Mary Did You Know?”—the Jordan Smith from The Voice version. And I like “Last Christmas” by Wham to liven it up a little bit, the Chanukah song for the hubby who’s Jewish, and maybe a little Dutch “Sinterklaas” song from my youth…“Zie Ginds Komt de Stoomboot,” for example.
Now I’m in a total holiday mood. Somebody pass me some eggnog!
My top five songs on my playlist are…
- “Someday at Christmas: by Stevie Wonder and Andra Day
2. “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kit
3. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Judy Garland
4. “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” by Justin Bieber and Usher
5. “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé
My choices: “Macarena”—my son revived this one recently. Brazilian songs. And, all the good Christmas classics, of course.
