Behind The Chic

The Art of Detail

At Chico’s, we’re all about jackets, and our latest collection includes several you won’t want to live without. Our designers have outdone themselves this time by incorporating artisan accents of beading, embroidery, and sequins. Here are a few of our favorites, as well as the stories behind them.

This stunning heirloom jacket was inspired by the blue of Greece’s Aegean Sea and the white buildings of Mykonos. The beading brings to mind sparkling sunset on the water. Featuring an ornamental tile design with detailed cutwork and satin-stitch embroidery, each jacket took more than two and a half hours to hand bead.

It’s the classic white denim jacket, elevated. Our designers have worked for years to develop an elaborate embroidery technique that mimics the look of lace. We love the juxtaposition of edgy denim and feminine lace that the embroidered panels on the back and sleeves bring to this jacket.

This light and airy Travelers™ jacket makes the perfect layering piece for cool summer evenings. Made of soutache—a narrow, flat type of decorative braiding—the open-weave design is just the right weight. Wear it over a column of white with a necklace (as shown above) to visually elongate your frame and make you look taller.

The pairing of silver and white couldn’t be more chic. This versatile textured jacket does double duty in your wardrobe—wear it with a monochromatic tank-and-crop combination (as shown below) for a dressier look, or slip it on over a simple tee to bring a sophisticated touch to your favorite pair of jeans. Subtle sequins woven into the fabric make you sparkle even more.
