Food & Wine Chico’s Cocktail Hour: The Cozy Sweater November 6, 2015 There’s nothing better at the end of a long, chilly week, then curling up on the couch with a good book, in a warm sweater, with a delicious drink to sip at. To celebrate the season, and our favorite sweaters, we had this signature Bulleit Bourbon toddy created just for you by one of our favorite food writers, Jeanne Kelley. The warming power of tea and bourbon combine to make a uniquely cozy tipple. Try one and let us know what you think! The Cozy Sweater 2 Drinks Ingredients: 2 1/4 cups water 1 tablespoon loose-leaf Earl Grey tea 2 1×2-inch pieces orange peel (orange part only) 1 1-inch piece cinnamon stick 6 whole cloves 1/3 cup half and half 2 tablespoons golden brown sugar 3 tablespoons Bulleit Bourbon Cinnamon sticks for garnish, optional Instructions: Bring the water to boil in a heavy small saucepan. Turn off the heat and add the tea, orange peel, cinnamon piece, and whole cloves. Cover and let steep 4 to 5 minutes. Strain the tea, discarding the solids. Return the tea to the saucepan and add the half and half and brown sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the tea almost simmers. Divide the tea between mugs. Add 2 tablespoons of bourbon for each cup of tea. Add the cinnamon sticks if desired and serve. Recipe created exclusively for Chico’s by Jeanne Kelley. Photo credit: Jeanne Kelley.
